THE SPLASH CREW
Splash has a mix of employed guides and contracted self employed outdoor specialist to ensure our clients get the very best mix of experience and ability from around the world. They are selected not just for their must have skill and ability but also for their ability to communicate well and customer service skills. Each year due to our reputation Splash gets over 50 applicants who want to work for us and we do not advertise. Between the team we have experience of adventure in over 100 countries around the World.
Peter is the oldest member of the team but he still reckons he is thirty. If you are unlucky enough to get him as your guide it means things are not going well. Apparently he has qualifications in kayaking, mountaineering, caving and cross country skiing but strives not to use them. He prefers canyoning to all adventure sports due to lack of ability in all others. He has traveled a bit in over 60 countries and not been invited back to most. He spent 15 years in the military upsetting them and 6 years turning round loss making companies. Developing Splash is his current consuming passion. Oh and he is the boss apparently! Also A director of Liquidlife and Aceadventures
Bruce is an outdoor consultant who is self employed and who we contracted to ensure all our activities are run in a safe manner. He has been dropping in and out of Splash for many years, he still thinks he is young at heart but he is rapidly approaching that age where he will have to take it easy. For the last few years Bruce has been re-living his youth doing rafting expeditions and heli-rafting in the wilds of Canada. When it got to cold for that he went skiing with some folks and when it got to cold for that he went to the Uganda and messed about on the White Nile. He is a level 4 raft trainer. He is the one on the left not the guy praying! After running our raft guide courses this year Bruce is back of to Canada for the winter and is planning on traveling the length of the Amazon in 2008 on a cat-raft on his own!
Kevin is the office manager and is rarely seen anywhere apart from the office and the local pubs and hotels on the pool tables. There is a rumor that this year he is going to start going on the trips and maybe even train as a guide. We have got him a new office this year so he is happy. He used to work for the Inland Revenue but he says Splash is more taxing!
Toby is in 5th year with Splash and has a loyal following of clients. Do not be fooled by the beard he states he is under thirty but no one has seen his birth certificate. We are not actually sure if he was born or made. As well as making a Kayak go places it should not and climbing rock that should not be climbed Toby spends a lot of time on his mountain bike. Rumor has it he sleeps with it. After the big water Orchy season Toby heads for snow, what he does when he finds it is X rated and for adults only. Toby is a level 3 raft trip leader
Sanu turned up at Splash around 2003 and has been annoying us ever since, he looks about 12 but has about 20 years white water experience so that does not stack up. He brings us many years of Nepal rafting experience but the true reason we like him is his curry cooking ability. Do not drink with him as he is a light weight. Sanu is a level 3 raft trip leader. He is self employed guide and allround jack of all trades.
Simon is on his 4th season with Splash. Our youngest member of the team and our contribution to an open and understanding society. Simon has spent his recent winters in New Zealand and Chile. Another one that can make Kayaking look very simple. A popular lad with the Hen groups and we do not know why .However as you can see below he talks them into it. Jump girls you know you will like it. He has spent 2007 as a self employed contractor for splash and other local companies.( Yet again Simon is off to NZ and the USA we may see him again in 2008 or 2009)
Dave C has the C because we have two many Dave's. He is a local lad born and bread in Aberfeldy. This is his 2nd season with Splash but has worked as a freelance guide with Splash since Jesus was a baby. No group who ever has Dave ever forgets him, we are not saying he talks a lot or anything! This year ask him about his driving test for the buses. That's him standing on the left.
Dr Graham has recently returned to Splash for his 3rd year after spending the winter in Uganda ripping up the White Nile. His Kayak skills are a bit pathetic really, apparently there is this rapid some where in outer Siberia at grade 18 that he thinks he may not be able to run. We told you pathetic. He has also been told that if he gets anymore Phd's he is sacked. He is of to Costa Rica to play on the Jungle rivers this winter .

Joe has been working as a Splash member or as a freelance contracted guide since 2000. He has probably run more River Orchy trips than any guide operating in Scotland at present. He is a level 4 raft trainer. He does raft abroad as well but we are not keen on that as he has a habit of missing his flight back. Do not get in a vehicle with this man driving. Apart from a raft that is.
Rod is old , that is a fact, he may even be as old or older than the boss. Rod has been rafting and guiding in the adventure world for years. He has also ran his own Kayak gear business as well as working at some very technical thing in hospitals. At present he renovates houses and works with Splash when his old bones let him. He also sleeps with his mountain bike and hangs is spare mountain bike on the bedroom wall. Rod runs his own property business and contracts his spare time to Splash. He is the smiling guy Dave C is the dread locked guide.
Chris gumbigear Wain is an associate guide who mixes his profession of graphic artist, web designer and all round interesting guy with running rivers with Splash. Known for many years as Bug Boy. Chris can now be found in canyons and hanging of his personal climbing wall.
Kevin Mr canyon I can jump of a higher height than you has been a Splash associate guide for the last few years. He fills his weekdays by being something really important than spends his weekends doing what we really know he wants to do full time. When we start the canyon season in that really cold month of March guess who we ask! Oh he also likes to jump over very high heights. Watch him Gravity Chasing
Big Dug or Douglas as he is known to many is a self employed guide who travels the world. He spent a few seasons with Splash but decided the 2 season life of Canada and the Cayman Islands was better. However, he could not stay away and he is back for 2007. Highly educated in outdoor education Dug will explain in detail why you are having a good time and show you him having a good time on his website
Pete A bit of a rafting legend Meredith cannot make it for 2007. He is in South Africa helping his family. Pete had done a few jobs for Splash over the years and in 2006 he did a season with us. As a dedicated hot climate man we did well to get him. Pete has done a few miles rafting including the first decent of the nile from source to sea. Just 4 months on a raft! Oh and he only ever wears shorts on the river! Did no one tell him this was Scotland

Jim is a rare sight at Splash but that is because he is MD of our new Ace Adventures venture in Aviemore. Jim is a Aussie by birth and has spent many years on the Worlds rivers including the Franklin and probably to many years on the Zambezi.
Andy is another rare sight at Splash these days he is one of these blond handsome chaps who has age on his side and we will ensure that he grows old disgracefully. Below he is pretending he can kayak
Stuart has been working for Splash as a advisor and guide for many years. He has slowed up recently due to the building work he is doing on his bunkhouse The Adventures Escape well that is his excuse. The only man that is older than the boss he has been on rivers and mountains since the 60's. He is known as Old Man River. He runs the best white water kayak courses and sea kayak courses in the UK.
Dave Lydon has been guiding at Splash for many years as an associate guide. For 2007 you can see him below dressed in new season designer river gear. He always wants to look his best.
Moff is fully deserving of the public health warning that should be pined to him. Currently working in Brighton with very bad people trying to make them good people. Moff has done a few seasons with Splash and now works on demand. Why anyone would demand this guide is beyond us but hundreds do!
Big Lee is one of our onsite camera contractors who has a bit of a history around the world as a kayaker , raft guide , and film maker. He has a bigger history in Newcastle but we will not go into that. You will see him hiding in the bush at the side of the river with is camera, oh maybe we should not go into that either.
Muzza runs our contracted filming and photography company Active Focus he is an old burnt out raft guide and kayaker who after spending years ripping up the World has decided to make nest in Aberfeldy. Together we also run the best alternative events company in the UK which is Liquidlife. As he is a Kiwi he thinks he knows something about rugby and coach's the local team. He also thinks he knows something about whisky and drinks the local supply!

Donna is lovely and runs our contracted catering company Fareandsquare she produces the best food from local sources and also helps educate the rest of us on the nice side of life. Donna is married to Muzza so we all feel sorry for Donna.
Archie the Scottish Deerhound has not guided on any of our trips yet but we are sure he has the ability and when we teach him to talk you can be sure he will be guiding a raft! Woff
Well he is no longer with us but we are sure he will be back Hilton after working as a contractor for us for 3 years has decided to go back to South Africa for a spell. If he was not guiding our rafts he would have been taking your photos for his company Taylor made Productions.
