White Water Rafting Rivers of the World - New York USA

Rafting The Moose River, New York

The Moose River is situated near Old Forge, New York and is easily accessible from the towns of Syracuse and Albany. The headwaters trail from Adirondack National Park and merge with the Black River in the end. The Moose River can prove to be a mixed bag of fun. The hardcore rafters can surf up in the challenging whitewaters of the Lower Moose and the beginners can take up the paddles in the Class I-III rapids of Middle Moose.

The Lower Moose River revs up in the month of April and draws water from the springtime snowmelts and rains. The water levels turn indecisively erratic in this short span and Moose is termed as “Slam Dancing with Nature”. The Class V rapids thrill rafters to the core and enduring its feral ledges and drops is not a matter of joke.  Due to its potentially lethal status, Moose can only be traversed by stalwarts of rafting with previous Class V experience. Navigating through startling rapids like “Mix Master” and “Rooster Tail” can prove to be an experience worth cherishing.

The Middle Moose rafting season is longer and extends from May to October. The river mellows down a bit in this season and it becomes party time for families and bigger groups. Moderate whitewaters with Class I-III rapids are enjoyed both by beginners and extreme whitewater thrill seekers. Kayaking through the whitewaters is a nice way to get familiar with the river.

With extreme thrills to ecstatic fun, rafting in the Moose delights everyone.
